The Missing Pieces of Me covers the heavy themes of poverty, friendship, family, and overcoming challenges. Weezie wants two things above all else – her mother’s approval and to find out who her father really is. Both are incredibly difficult for her grasp. She lives in a small trailer with her overworked mom and siblings, and befriends a neighborhood cat who gives her the only positive affection and attention she receives on a regular basis. This book was hard for me to read, and takes an emotional toll witnessing what Weezie goes through on a regular basis, but she demonstrates incredible resilience on her search to find her dad.
